The FIM creates a new Series for Electric Motorcycles in 2010

Following the success of the TTXGP race held on the Isle of Man on June 12, the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) has decided to create a FIM Series for electric bikes in 2010.

It has been a frantic time for all of the teams entering the The Worlds First Zero Carbon, Clean Emission Grand Prix. The Isle of Mann TTXGP. With 17 entrants planning to compete on the 12th of June 2009 the motorcycle world looks on with both encourangement and disbelief.

So after 5 months of hard work from the MotoCzysz team (close friends of mine), The bike is finally complete and on its way to the TTXGP race on June 12th. I wish I could have been involved past the initial concept stages, but its great to see an idea that started with a small group of people come to completion and look so beautiful with such great performance.

Yes folks, both of these bikes are electric and they were both built by Jozzer at the PeaceHaven Electric Vehicle Workshop. These bikes use LiFeBATT LiFeP04 batteries and each have 2XAGNI motors installed. These bikes will each top 100mph!!

I didn't want to weld anything to the alloy frame, so after a lot of head scratching I made up a subframe for the motor and batteries that would bolt into the original engine mountings. The motor is an Etek rated at 48V, just under 5kW continuous, and around 10kW max power.

Today we raced, and WON!

Our final and winning quarter mile time was 14.998 and 94mph. Making us the fastest electric vehicle at the Alternative Energy Drag Racing Event, held at Santa Pod.
