DC Electronic Basic Components

There are a number of electronic items that you will require when building your EVMOTORCYCLE. The main ones are as follows:

Controllers

This is one of the key components of your electric motorcycle build. Your choice of controller will determine how the bike performs. Your controller should be capable of supplying the correct Amperage and Voltage to your motor. Some controllers offer regenerative breaking.

DC DC converter

This DC DC converter will take the 72V input from the main battery pack and step it down to 12V. This is the device that will run all of the orginal motorcycle electrics. It will take the place of the original 12V battery on your bike. You can also choose to use a separate battery for your 12V electrics. You would then also require an additional charger to replensih the power when empty.

Contactor

The contactor is effectively a heavy duty electrical switch that can handle large voltages. In the case of a 72V build you would require a contactor that can handle 72V. It is also necessary to ensure that it can hadle the maximum amount of amps that will go through it from your controller. In this case 200Amps

Battery Charger

It's going to be necessary to charge your bike's batteries. You can choose to have the chargers mounted onboard the bike or for extra battery space you can have them offboard. The distinct advantage of having the chargers onboard is that you can charge the bike wherever you go.
