Joined the forum approximately 7 minutes ago. I am a freshman Physics major at Purdue and I've always been a gear head. I've been interested EV's for ages and I figured with a college budget, a motorcycle would be the ideal place to start. I looked into some of the legal stuff and found it wasn't nearly as intimidating as I figured. A few days ago, I made the plunge when I bought this 1978 Suzuki GS550 for $70.00 delievered. (Note to perspective EV-converters, post an ad on Craiglist, I had several options for cheap in the first day.)

I got rid of all the parts I didn't need, although I just looked at eBay and looks like there is quite a market for parts from this bike, so I might go dumpster diving to get my own parts back. My plan is an Alltrax AXE4844, Mars Etek-RT and SLA 55Ah @ 48V. Although I have the disadvantage of a college budget, I've got a full machine shop at my disposal. If anyone would fill me in on putting pictures on here, you guys could see it. Also, I am debating starting a blog.

P.S. What would be the best option for charging a 48V SLA system?
